Instructions: View a larger project image here. This is a project that can be done in stages. My first step was to prepare my board. I painted my pine board with 2 coats of beige paint and let dry completely. Using a ruler and a brown Sharpie, I then added the ruler markings. I started at 6", and went all of the way up the board. This allows the board to be mounted to a wall above any baseboard. Once the board markings are in place, I added the large numbers using stencils, brown paint and a foam stencil brush. Let dry completely. I then added the name using Sharpie freehand.
Stamp and die cut 12-15 large palm leaves. I added colour to these using ink and daubers. Stamp and die cut 6-8 small palm leaves. I added colour to these using Chameleon pens. I wanted the 2 sized leaves to have a bit of difference in colour. Shape your palms.
Stamp and die cut 6-8 of the floral clusters. I added colour to them using Chameleon pens. Shape the flowers. I added gold Prills to the middle of each flower using 3D Crystal Lacquer. Stamp and die cut 1 palm tree. I added colour to this using Chameleon pens. Shape the palms of the tree. Stamp and die cut 3 coconuts. I added colour using Chameleon pens. Shape and add foam tape to the back of each.
Stamp and die cut 1 of each of these monkeys: hanging banana monkey, cuddling monkeys, monkeys on vines, monkey on a swing, double hanging monkey and small monkey with hands up. I added colour to all of the monkeys using dual brush markers. I didn't do any shaping with my monkeys.
Using brown string I created multiple strings of vines. I simply tied knots about 1" apart. I started hot gluing embellishments to my board using the string vines first. I created 2 swags at the top of the board. Then added palm leaves and coconuts. I cut apart some of the flowers and added them throughout the palm leaves. I added the hanging banana monkey and the double hanging monkeys to this top cluster. One hanging from a palm leaf, and one hanging from the string. I also added a couple of coconuts into the palm leaf clusters.
The second cluster of embellishment falls just below the name on the board. I added the monkey in a vine swing hanging from the first letter of the name on the board. I added string vines coming from the number 5 over to the side of the board. I added the monkeys on vines just below this. I added a cluster of palm leaves up the side of the board, as well as flowers. Last but not least I added the small monkey and coconut in the middle of the palm cluster.
The third cluster of embellishments start with 2 swags of string vines. Then I added a cluster of palms with flowers in the middle. Add the cuddling monkeys using 3D foam tape and hot glue. Add the palm tree to the side of the cluster.
