Holiday Star Ornament

Cut white cardstock to 10 1/2 x 7 5/8", score and fold at 5 1/4" to create card base. Using the HCD1-7412 Large Holiday Star Die, diecut an opening in the top center half of the inside of card. Cut a 7 5/8 x 5 1/4" and 4 3/4 x 5" size panel from light blue sheet 11B in the Holiday Star paper collection. Cut a piece of white cardstock to 7 7/16 x 5" size. Stamp the snowflake pattern from HCPC-3994 Large Holiday Star Cling Stamp Set onto the white panel and inside of card using 2 ink variations. For the pink tone, ink the stamp with French Ultramarine, then Cactus Flower, stamp off 1x, then onto card. Repeat this step as needed. For the blue tone, ink the stamp with French Ultramarine, then Forget-Me-Not, stamp off 1x, then onto card. Repeat as needed. Using a paper trimmer, cut an opening of 6 3/8 x 3 15/16" into the center of card base front, large light blue panel, white panel. The openings should all align when layered on top of each other as pictured. Sponge the edges of light blue panel, white snowflake panel and around snowflake opening on inside of card with French Ultramarine and Forget-Me-Not ink. Layer the light blue panel onto card base and the white snowflake one on top. Layer the small light blue panel onto the backside of card so the blue shows through the snowflake opening.

Stamp the snowflake patterned star from HCPC-3994 Large Holiday Star Cling Stamp Set, inking with Forget-Me-Not, then Night Sky. Stamp onto white cardstock and diecut the outline of image and snowflake as well. Clean the stamp. Stamp the star image again, this time in Silver Encore ink onto Luxe Silver cardstock, heat emboss with silver embossing powder and diecut outline and snowflake. Stamp the star from HCPC-3993 Holiday Star Cling Stamp Set in Silver Encore ink onto Luxe Silver cardstock, heat emboss with silver embossing powder and diecut center snowflake. You’ll need 3 snowflakes, so repeat the last step two more times. Stamp the ‘Merry Christmas’ from HCPC-3995 Starry Holiday Greetings Cling Stamp Set in Versa Color White ink onto white cardstock, heat emboss with white embossing powder and diecut with coordinating die. Diecut an extra sentiment for layering. Trim the ‘Jingle all the way’ sentiment from the 6 x 6 panel on sheet 11A in the paper collection.

Sponge the snowflake pattern within the large star using the Cactus Flower ink. Sponge over the center section of the large snowflake as well. Sponge the ‘Merry Christmas’ sentiment with Cactus Flower and French Ultramarine ink. Layer the colored sentiment on top of the extra one for sturdiness. Flip the word Christmas from the sentiment face down and add a layer of Crystal Lacquer on the backside. Once the lacquer is dry it will make the sentiment even sturdier.

Use the shaping stylus from Deluxe Flower Shaping kit to give dimension to the star, making it so that it comes to a point in the center. Layer star onto silver one, offsetting a little. Use hot glue to attach the large snowflake onto the center of star. Crease the small silver snowflake in half at the same point for all three snowflakes. Adhere the snowflakes together. Now you’re ready to attach the snowflakes to card. Thread a small string through the point of large star, attaching onto the top inside of card border. Using more string, attach the silver snowflake at the bottom of large star and attach onto the bottom of card border using hot glue. Attach the Merry sentiment to the top inside of card as shown. Attach the Christmas sentiment onto the silver star and onto side of card using hot glue. Sponge the edges of ‘Jingle all the way’ sentiment strip with Forget-Me-Not ink and attach underneath and next to star as shown.

To add some sparkle, apply the Dries Clear glue onto a yellow sponge, dab over card and sprinkle with Frosting Powder as desired.
