EZ Step by Step Tutorial: Create a Stunning Gift Box Decorated with Wild Poppies!

Let's get crafting!


Step 1: Make the box base.

Cut white cardstock 7 1/2” x 12” 

Score at 4” , 5”, 9” and 10” on the longer side.

Step 2: Make the inner box.

Cut White card stock 5 7/8” x 9 3/8” 

Score this piece at 1” on all four sides.

Step 3: Add pattern paper to the inside of the box base.

Cut mat layers for the box from paper collection. 

Cut pattern paper for inner and outer sides of the box from two designs from paper collection to size 3 5/8" x 3/4" two pieces. 

♥ 7 1/4" x 3/4" two pieces. 

♥ For the inner base, cut pattern paper to size 7 1/4" x 3 5/8". Adhere all the mat layers using clear glue. 

TOP TIP: Fold in and glue the flaps and then adhere the inner mat layer

♥ Add a 12” piece of red ribbon on the outside of the box.

Step 4: Cut pattern paper from paper collection and add as mat layers on the outside of the box, covering each panel.

♥ Cut the mat layers for the front and inner side of the cover. Two designer paper for both the sides. 

♥ Cut pattern paper to size 3 3/4" x 7 1/4", 3/4" x 7 1/4", 3 3/4" x 7 1/4", 3/4" x 7 1/4"  and 1 3/4" x 7 1/4".

Repeat this with different paper. 

Step 5:  Make the inner box.

Make four slits on the four corners

Cut pattern paper to cover as mat layers for the outside of the box.

Adhere these with glue.

Adhere the tabs on the on the inner side.

Add mat layers on the inside of the box.

Step 6: Adhere the inner box inside the box base.

Step 7: Diecut the French Gate.

Cut two die cuts in white card stock from the French Gate die.

♥ Cut two die cuts from Luxe gold Card stock.

♥ Cut two mat layers using the outer plain die.

♥ Adhere the white die cuts on the gold dies cuts offsetting a little.

♥ Add mat layers at the back.

Step 8: Embellish the top.

Close the box and tie the ribbon.

Adhere the French Gate die cuts on the box.

Add artificial moss to give it a rustic look.

Step 9: Make the poppy flowers and filler flowers and leaves. 

Stamp the poppy flower image using the Medium size flower from Wild Poppy Stamp Set with Carnation Red Archival ink on Deluxe flower shaping paper. 

Stamp the leaves in Library Green ink with Wild Aster Stamp Set on Deluxe Flower shaping paper. 

Stamp the filler flower image using the carnation ink and the smallest size poppy flower. 

Color the flowers with a blend of Poppy Archival ink and carnation red using sponge dauber. 

Colour the leaves using the green inks. 

♥ Cut all the images using the coordinating dies. 

Step 10: Shape the Poppy Flowers.

Place the flowers, coloured side up, in the 3D flower shaping mold for Poppy. Mist them with water just once. Place the cover and pass through the die cutting machine. 

Remove the perfectly shaped and embossed flowers and let them dry. 

Adhere two big and one small flower together.

♥ Make single layer small filler flowers in same way. 

♥ Shape the leaves with Groove Golf Tool.

Step 11: Create flower centers and floral spirals.

Stamp just the flower centres with green ink. Cut them with scissors and emboss them with ball tool to get a rounded shape

♥ Place this centre in the centre of the poppy flower. Adhere with glue. 

Finish by adding black prills. 

♥ Use floral wire at the base of the flowers or use them as spirals. 


Step 12: Create floral arrangement.

Place and adhere flowers, leaves and spirals on box top using hot glue gun.
