Elegant Inspiration and Lush Lilac Collection Preview

Hi Friend,

How is your week going? I am so grateful for you and to be part of this incredible crafting community! I hear stories all the time of paper crafters creating "art from the heart" and making someone's day by giving them a hand-made card just because they care. It is a small easy gesture to let someone know that you care and what they really mean to you. The design team members love creating with each collection and they each have very unique styles that totally bring out a completely unexpected twist to paper crafting. Today they are mostly featuring the darling characters from the Singing in the Rain Collection:)

Lush Lilac Sneak Peek: The elegant, and well known lilac blossom takes center stage early in the spring season and is one of the first flowers to usher in the season of new beginnings! Enchanting clusters of tiny blossoms come together to create quaint floral displays with amazing color and a sweet-smelling fragrance that brings with it a feeling of gentility and old world charm! Join us in celebrating a perennial favorite in our new Lush Lilac Collection! debuting online February 14th. You can see the entire preview here: http://hcgo.co/LushLilac

Instructions:  To see a larger photo of this project, click here. Project size: 3 3/4" X 4 1/2" X 2 1/2" Gift basket. Cut two of the largest size Octagons and a strip of card stock 3 1/4" X 7 1/2" from white heavy card stock. Score the white strip every 1 1/2" along the long side. Turn to short side and score at 3/8" on both sides. Cut along 1 1/2" score lines on both sides only just to the 3/8" score line and then cut each little flap at each end to make a V type flap (V with a flat bottom). You will need them cut like this to go around the corners of the octagons. Fold along each score line and fold flaps inward to glue to inside of octagons then set aside until both octagon tops are decorated.

Cut a straight edge octagon about 1/8" smaller all the way around than your white, from decorative paper. Then cut another piece of coordinating decorative paper with the scallop edge octagon and glue to white octagons using dries clear adhesive. Stamp, die cut and color images and shape slightly with the Deluxe Flower Shaping Kit, then adhere with foam tape and glue to both sides of basket. Attach bird with a strip of acetate. Decorate the bottom scored strip to coordinate with basket front and back. Diecut the Delicate Border Basics die from white cardstock and adhere to the bottom as shown.

Glue bottom strip to basket front and back using tabs that you made on each side of 7 1/2" strip and let dry thoroughly. Glue Festive Holiday Die cuts to inside and outside of both sides at the top.

Attach ribbon to make a handle by punching holes on each end and threading ribbon through then tying a knot on each end (on the inside of box). Fill with Opalescent grass and candies or some other small gift.

Ink all edges of each panel using Abandoned Coral Distress Ink. Adhere to card base as shown. Adhere decorative edging from Spellbinders Heart and Home Scalloped Pop Up Box Die as shown.

Trim a piece of white card stock to support back of card and to include a written message. Ink using Abandoned Coral Distress Ink and Adhere to card base. Adhere decorative topper from Spellbinders Heart and Home Scalloped Pop Up Box Die as shown.

Locate preprinted images of rain boots, umbrella and rainbow within paper collection that are sized to match the coordinating dies within the Singing in the Rain Collection. Die cut using your die cutting machine. Using pop dots, attach both boots together to create a completed pair, cut slits into boots where flower bouquet will be assembled.

Stamp one inking of each of the flowers in the Rain Boots and Blossoms Cling Stamp Set onto white card stock using Memento Danube Blue Ink. Die cut using coordinating dies and color using Stack and Store Daubers using various color combinations of inks listed in supply list. Using your Deluxe Flower Shaping Kit, shape each of the florals slightly. Instructions: My card size is 4 1/4 X 5 1/2". Make card base and cover with a piece of the paper collection. Cut another piece of the paper and add a layer on top of the first piece. Using Tuxedo Black Memento ink, stamp the rainbow and using the Dove Blender Pen and various inks, color it. Using the dimensional tape adhere the rainbow to the card front. Stamp the sentiment under the rainbow and set the card aside. Color a piece of the seam binding using watered down Rosebud Ink. Scrunch and set aside to dry.

Using Rosebud Memento Ink stamp the carnation flower petals and color the outer edges of those petals. Run the petals through the flower mold and then just add a bit more shaping using the Deluxe Flower Shaping Kit and then glue the petals together. Add Crystal Clear to the flowers and set aside to dry.

When everything is dry, tie a bow and adhere to the card front. Glue the flowers around the bow and when everything is dry the card is finished.

Instructions: To see images of the inside of the album, click here. Front and Back Cover: Before gluing paper to front and back cover decide if you want to add a ribbon tie to the album. Place 12 inches of ribbon on front cover and 12 inches of ribbon on back cover prior to gluing paper in place. Cut two pieces of Singing in the Rain garden images 5 3/8 inches x 9 inches and glue on to the paper covered portion of front and back cover.

Inside Front and Back Cover: Cut two pieces of repeating Singing in the Rain umbrella pattern paper 6 inches x 8 inches and glue on to the inside front and back cover. Glue the umbrella border to the bottom portion of the 4 inches x 6 inches blue paper and glue the tag in place to the lower left side of the inside front cover and the lower right side of the inside back cover. The inside front cover and the inside back cover will mirror each other.

Page One and Page Ten: These pages are mirror identical pages in the album. Cut two pieces of Singing in the Rain green paper 6 inches x 8 inches and glue centered to page one and page ten. Die cut two sweetheart borders from white cardstock. Glue the sweetheart borders bottom and sides to the bottom of each page to form a pocket. Cut from the Singing in the Rain paper two boot images and four small garden images. Cut four pieces of blue paper at 3 inches x 3 7/8 inches and four pieces of white cardstock 3 1/4 inches x 4 1/8 inches. Glue blue paper to white cardstock and glue images to the blue paper. Place two garden images and one boot image into the sweetheart border pockets on page one and page ten. Cut two of the light green vine borders at six inches and glue to the top of page one and page ten.

Page Two and Page Nine: These pages are mirror identical pages in the album. Cut two 6 inches x 8 inches light orange chevron paper from the Singing in the Rain collection and glue to page two and nine. Die cut two scallop eyelet hearts from white cardstock and two smaller hearts from dark orange paper from the collection. Glue the dark orange hearts to the white eyelet hearts. Glue the bottom of the heart on page two in the lower left corner and on page nine in the lower right corner to form pockets. Cut two 6 inches dark orange scallop border from the paper collection and glue to the top of pages. Cut out two tags from the collection, two 3 inches by 4 inches light orange chevron paper, three 3 inches by 4 inches dark orange paper, one 3 inches x 4 inches light green paper and six 3 inches by 4 inches white cardstock. Page Three and Page Eight: Create a three-tiered pocket set for these two pages using white card stock. Cut two pieces at 2 1/2 inches x 7 inches. Score on the 7 inches side at 1/2 inch on each end on the 2 1/2 inch side at 1/2 inch on one side. Fold on the score lines and burnish. Cut four pieces at 3 inches x 7 inches. Score on the 7 inches side at 1/2 inch on each end. Score on the 3 inches side at 1 inch on one side. Cut four pieces of light chevron orange paper at 1 3/4 inches x 5 3/4 inches and four pieces of dark orange paper at 1 3/4 inches x 5 3/4 inches. Cut six 1 inch by 5 3/4 inches borders. Apply the three stacked white cardstock papers to page three and page eight by applying dries glue to the end scored edges between the score line and the cut edge. Fold on the end score lines. First place the 2 1/2 inches x 7 inches pocket on the bottom of each page ensuring all three sides are attached to form the pocket. Then take the 3 inches x 7 inches pieces and glue just the ends and add two to each page placing the one-inch tab down into the previous pocket to form a stacked belly band. For the pockets cut two 6 inches x 6 inches picture images, two 4 inches x 6 inches and four 3 inches x 4 inches images from the Singing in the Rain collection. Cut two 6 inches x 6 inches white cardstock, four 3 inches x 4 inches white card stock and two 4 inches x 6 inches from white cardstock. Instructions: Find and cut out both of the 6x6" card images with the coral scalloped circle in the middle. I also used the 6x6" card image printed above it as the card base, adhere to a yellow cardstock base. Cut one of the card images and cut the outside pattern off. From the other card image, cut off everything up to the pink layer. Adhere each of these layers to the card using 3D foam tape.

Cut a strip of the light green patterned paper that is 1x6", and mat that in white cardstock. Find and cut out the blue border strip, cut it in half and adhere to either side of the matted border. Adhere across the middle of the card using 3D foam tape. Cut two 1" squares from the dark green patterned paper. Cut in half diagonally and adhere to the corners of the pink layer of the card. Add gems to each corner.

Using the nesting circle dies, cut the largest circle from white cardstock, the size smaller from dark green cardstock, and the smallest from a patterned paper background image. Adhere these layers together and adhere to the middle of the card using 3D foam tape.

Stamp one floral rubber boot onto white cardstock using dark brown ink (Early Espresso), die cut the image. Add color using Chameleon Pens (Red Coral, Spring Meadow, Summer Sun). Stamp 1 set of Delightful Daisy onto white cardstock using dark brown ink. Add color to the middle using Crushed Curry ink and daubers. Diecut using the coordinating die. Other Products: Shrinky Dinks plastic - Bright White, 2 Leverback earring findings, 2 oval jump rings, paper punch, jewelry pliers.

For more tips on creating with the Singing in the Rain collection, watch the tutorial at https://youtu.be/_J85LChrXSs.

Instructions: Click here to see a large photo of the earrings. Stamp the image on Shrinky Dinks product using a StazOn ink pad, I used Iris. StazOn is a permanent alcohol-based ink. Wait a few minutes and allow it to dry. Die cut the image with the coordinating Singing in the Rain Die. I used a shim to cut because I wanted to get a crisp cut through the Shrinky Dinks shrinkable plastic.

Place a paper punch at the center top of the image. Place the image on a piece of flat parchment paper and weight the ends with rocks to ensure the plastic remains flat during and immediately after the baking process. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 3 minutes. You will know when the image shrinks and lies flat. Remove from oven and place a folded piece of paper on the top and gently press to make certain the earrings are flat.

Using two pairs of jewelry pliers attach an oval jump ring through the hole from the paper punch. Attach the jump ring to the Leverback earring finding on each earring. Enjoy!

Instructions: The final card measures 6.5" x 4" and it's lacy and graceful for the perfect valentine. Adorned with handmade flowers and drops of glitter let's celebrate this valentine day with poise and grace. To create this card cut a white card stock to measure the final card base at 6.5" x 4". Strip off the front panel keeping 1" from the top. Take another white card stock that measures 6.5" x 3" and die cut the filigree square three times in a row keeping a thin separation in between and also keeping a 1/8" border on both sides. Cut another strip of white card stock that measures 6" x 1" for the bottom. Align the filigree piece to the top and then adhere the solid bottom piece at the bottom keeping in mind to keep the entire front panel to 4.5". Cut strips of pattern paper to adhere to the top and bottom white panel. This will finish the card front panel.

For the lace heart, die cut an eyelet heart shape from a pattern paper. Choose a size smaller and die cut another piece from vellum paper. Stamp the sentiment Happy Valentine using embossing ink and then heat set with white embossing power. Adhere both the heart piece with foam adhesive. Adhere the heart sentiment at one end of the card front panel.

For the flowers die cut several piece of large and small petunia from white card stock using black archival ink. Using sunflower and pink archival ink shade all the flower petals. Later to shape the flowers slightly wet all the flower petals and the leaves and then shape them. Later heat dry them. To finish the flowers sprinkle some crystal clear. For the filler leaves here I have used a retired leaves from the sunrise collection. Stamp it with black archival ink and then color it using zig brushes. Once all colored and dried assemble the leaves, flowers and frills around the heart on the lace center border of the card front card. The flower centers are made using wire pollens.
