by Liz Gaze, social media manager, creator of beautiful cards, wife and mom.
Have you been busy making any Valentine projects? This tote bag is such fun to make it's quick and easy to do! Not only is it PERFECT for Valentine's Day but it would be a great project to make for party bags, wedding favours, Mother's Day and so many other occasions, just change the sentiment and papers to fit the occasion you want to make one for! I have a fabulous tutorial here for you to make your own tote bags, let's begin!
Directions
Step
1: Cut a piece of double sided paper 12" x 8" for the bag and two
matching pieces 12" x 1" for the handles.
TIP: If you want to use papers that are single sided or you wish a different pattern to be on the inner to what is on the paper cut two of each piece of paper and adhere them together so you have the patterns you want to use.
Step 2: Score along the long side of the 12" x 8" piece of paper at 5", 6" and 7". These will make the folds inside the bag base.
Step 3: Score along the short side of the paper at 1" but just between the horizontal score lines. Repeat this on the other side also.
Step 4: Cut away the scored area.
Step 5: Fold the scored lines as in the above picture. This forms the base of the bag.
Step
6: Adhere the sides of the bag together.
TIP: If you are using a thicker card gently curve the card on each side before adhering together.
Step 7: Ink all of the edges of the bag and straps with the Memento Bamboo Leaves ink.
Step 8: Adhere the handles to each side of the bag and your bag is complete, all you need to do now id decorate it! Have fun!
To decorate this tote bag:
Step
1: Adhere pearls along the top of the bag and along the handles. And glitter
the pattern of the paper.
Step
2: Die cut a tag using a journaling piece from the paper pad and die cut the
Raindrops on Roses decorative heart topper die in white card. Ink all of the
edges of both pieces with the Coral Brilliance ink.
Step
3: Stamp the sentiment in black ink and
create your flowers and leaves using this video here.
Adhere
prills to the stamens and glitter the flowers and leaves.
Step
4: Adhere the heart die cut to the tag. Tie a bow and adhere to the tag along
with the flowers and leaves.
Step
5: Adhere with 3D foam pads the tag to the bag and your beautiful tote bag is
ready to be filled with a special gift for your loved one!
