Brewing Up Some Inspiration with Coffee Talk
Hello Friends!
How are you this morning? Thank you for joining us on the blog today:) The countdown to Christmas is on.....with only 9 more days to go, can you believe it? Do you find yourself all calm and cool as a cucumber with everything prepared for all the festive gatherings or are you a little like myself....still scrambling around to finish up some of those last minute Christmas cards....checking the list twice to make sure nothing is missed:) Last Saturday was my last class I taught locally for this year...I had the chance to bake some Monster cookies, packaged 2 cookies in a 5x7 cellophane bag, and topped it with a paper topper with poinsettias and gave them to the gals attending my class. You will see this project towards the end of the blog post today.
Today the design team members are brewing up some more inspiration with the new Coffee Talk Collection which released a week ago. Enjoy a good cup of coffee while perusing the blog today. If you missed the release of the Coffee Talk Collection, you can see a complete overview here: http://hcgo.co/CoffeeTalk
Have a wonderful week! Hugs, Emma Lou

Instructions: This hinged tent fold card when finished measures 19.9 cm x 14.5 cm. Using the 300gm card stock cut and prepare: For the hinged card base, the measurements above, the inside sentiment cut 6.0 cm x 12.0 cm, the lace band 15.0 cm x 4.5 cm (this allows for the edge off cut). Taking the blue card stock, cut 15.2 cm x 15.7 cm (this allows for the edge cut off). Taking the white card stock cut 21.0 cm x 13.0 cm. Take the boarder die and place this on the 15.7 cm edge, die cut. Repeat on the other side. Adhere to the card base with double dots/foam tape. Cut the lace boarder. Adhere 2.0 cm of both the ends to the card front, 4.3 cm from the blue lower edge. (This is so you can slide the coffee mug in and out.)
Make your inside sentiment. Stamp the sentiment and the bean image. With the foam-inking tool bring on the ink to the edges. Adhere to the center inside card. To make the coffee mug, stamp and die cut the coffee mug. Bring on the color with the foam inking tool and the watercolor brush. Make the coffee mug card base by folding the card stock in half. Place the die so you will keep the fold. Ink the edges of the mug inside and stamp the sentiment. Adhere the mug front to the mug card. Make the roses from the 300gm card stock, stamping with the gold embossing powder. Color with the faded jeans ink. (The pearl sheen will show through the ink). Use the Flower Shaping kit to shape the roses and leaves. Stamp and die cut the spoons. Die cut extra to make the spoons into chipboards. From the blue card stock make a few spring swirls. Stamp the sentiment "Heavenly Sent”. Punch out or cut to size. Arrange and adhere the larger roses on the mug. Slide the coffee mug card back, into the lace band. Arrange the spoons, roses, buds and leaves so they become a stop for the card. Once you are happy with the arrangement, adhere into place. Add the swirl screws in place, then to finish the card, add the stickles to the blue pattern in the mug, roses and rose buds.

For more ideas on how to use the Coffee Talk Collection, along with the Coffee Talk Cling Stamp Set and Die, please see video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AlwXTnWu9q8.
Instructions: Begin with a white 5" x 7" card base. For the card front background, locate the coffee bean paper within the paper collection and cut just slightly smaller than the card base. Ink all edges using a brown ink. Locate the decorative paper as shown on the inside of card, and cut two pieces just slightly smaller than the card base as well. Ink all edges using a brown ink. Adhere one of the pieces to the inside of the card base on right side where coffee mug image will be placed. Find the large image of the coffee mug in the paper collection. Cut using coordinating die. Using your manual die cutting machine and the coffee mug die, cut the mug die cut into the front of the card base. Closing card front, mark off where the die cut coffee mug image that you have cut from the paper collection will appear on the inside of the card. Adhere die cut coffee mug image to the center of the card on the inside using pop dots. Using white card stock, cut a piece the same size as the card front. Using the coffee mug die and a manual die cutting machine, cut out a cup shaped centre after marking where you want the cut to appear using the already cut card front as a guide. Using 3D pop dots, adhere cut white card stock panel to the card front. Repeat the same process once more using the coffee bean decorative paper background you cut earlier. Adhere to card front using pop dots.
Stamp several inkings onto light colored patterned paper from the collection of the coffee beans image, one of the coffee ring sentiment, as well as one of the spoon using black ink. Die cut spoon using coordinating die and adhere to inside of card using pop dots as shown. Fussy cut sentiment image as well as all coffee beans. Adhere sentiment to front of card. Arrange some of the coffee beans on the front of the card around the sentiment area, as well as on the top opposite corner, layering them slightly overlapping to create a flat base and then adding a few using the pop dots to create a dimensional effect. Watch this video https://youtu.be/1INCr0klRIQ to learn how to shape the Sparkling Poinsettia.
Instructions: Tree is approximately 22" tall. Start by creating a "tree trunk" base from a round wood piece 5 1/2" across that has a hole in the center that will hold the size of dowel you are using. Paint the wood base piece and your dowel white. Create a large rosette to use as your "tree skirt" using three, 3" strips of paper from the Sparkling Poinsettias paper collection. Adhere the rosette to the wood base then insert the wooden dowel through the center of the rosette all the way into the wood base.
Next, cut a large scrap of hard Styrofoam packing material to fit snuggly inside the cone. Cover the outside of the cone using 3 1/2" strips of paper from the paper collection. Once completely covered, position the cone over the dowel on the base and push down so it pushes through the Styrofoam and is centered on the dowel.
Prepare the poinsettias for the tree. Refer to this video https://youtu.be/1INCr0klRIQ for instructions on shaping the poinsettias. With Black Memento ink, stamp, die cut and shape seven sets of poinsettias from red cardstock. Adhere glittered, Styrofoam balls to the centers of the poinsettias. Add Stickles Icicle glitter to all the poinsettia leaves and set them aside to dry.
Wrap some wide, candy-stripped ribbon around the cone, twisting it as it wraps around the tree. Adhere the ribbon to the tree by adding adhesive strategically to the ribbon as it winds around the cone to help the twists stay in place.
Next add the poinsettias to the tree using hot glue, making sure to get a good mix of all the sizes of poinsettias all around the tree. Next, wrap the tree with tinsel. Add the pine cones and bows to fill in space. Insert Christmas tags and tickets from the Paper Collection in between the flowers. Tuck in several leaves made by stamping VersaMark onto green cardstock and heat embossing with Gold embossing powder. Add little tags/tickets from the paper collection. Finish decorating the tree using mini, metallic bows, mini pine cones, and some Christmas-themed button embellishments all around the tree filling in any uncovered spots.
For the star, die cut five Lace Flower shapes from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper using the dies from the Arianna Lace die. Score each in half and crease with a bone folder. Adhered them back-to-back to form a dimensional star for the tree top. Using a hot glue gun, adhere the star to the top of the tree.
