Fresh Inspiration For You
Hi Everyone,
It's such a beautiful Wednesday morning! There are so many different ways to be inspired. This weekend I had the chance to go to a local botanical garden. Inspiration was everywhere! The spring tulips and daffodils were in full bloom, showcasing beautiful vibrant colors. There were also many birds sitting on their nests patiently waiting for those eggs to hatch:) One mother goose wasn't too sure that she really liked us nosing too close to her beautiful paradise!
The blog is another source of inspiration and this Wednesday the design team members are each bringing you a project of their latest creations...so many different styles and techniques are shown! We are also bringing you our first preview of the Cascading Fuchsia Collection. You can see the entire preview here: http://hcgo.co/CascadingFuchsia .
Take care! Emma Lou

Other Products: Paper: Yellow Bazzill card stock x 1, SUP A4 Naturals White x 2 card stock, paper for masking; Spellbinders: Devine Eloquence S5-218, Labels Twenty-Eight S5-127; Ranger: Walnut Stain, Rusty Hinge, Forest Moss, Broken China, Peeled Paint distress ink; Foam ink tool, Paper distressing tool, Water color brush, Star dust stickles, Water mister; Other: Quelling tool, Black stamens x8, Seam binding ribbon, Pearl beads and thin craft wire, White and gold embossing powder, Heat gun, Versa Mark.
Watch the video https://youtu.be/0Qcx0tuQ0iQ to see how to shape the Botanical Rose.
Instructions: This card size is 21 cm x 14.7 cm. With the SUP A4 card stock, fold in half to make the card base. Trim to the card size. Chose the paper from the paper collection and cut to 20.5 cm x 14.2 cm. This will be your card front. Apply crystal Lacquer to the black swirls dividing the print on the paper, when dry, ravel the edges of the card front with the distressing tool. Taking the SUP A4 card stock and tuxedo black ink, stamp the image from HCPC 3663 My World. Use the HCPC 3598 World Map stamp and stamp positioner, this is to extend the stamped image at the top and bottom so the image will cover the whole frame size when cut. With the largest size from the Labels Twenty-Eight set, die cut the stamped image.
Using the distress inks, add color to the stamped image. With the foam ink tool and Walnut Stain ink apply to the edges. Apply crystal lacquer to the My World words on the stamped image. To make the 3d world ball, apply tuxedo black ink to the world ball image on the stamp and stamp on SUP A4 card stock. Die cut this and 5 extra cuts. Stack and glue the paper cuts together. Apply color to the world ball. When the ink is dry, apply to the ball only a thick layer of crystal lacquer. Put aside to dry.
Lift and twist the ball away from the world ball stand, so it is higher on one side. Apply a double dot to the side that is higher so it will keep its twist when glued down. Using wet glue, adhere the world ball to its place on the stamped frame. With the SUP A4 card stock, die cut the Divine Eloquence frame. Cut the frame into 4. Also from the SUP A4 card stock die cut x1 the Everyday Heroes frame. Cut this in 2, leaving the ironwork complete. Apply Broken China and Forest Moss ink to the ironwork on all the frames. When the ink is dry, gently apply a little versa mark to the edges (like you would when distressing with ink), sprinkle the gold embossing powder over this area then fix the powder with the heat gun. Repeat if needed. In this case less is more. Attach the Everyday Heroes frame halves to the stamped Labels Twenty- Eight frame with wet glue so you can align accurately. Taking the Everyday Heroes frame, cut both the end swirls on the circle edge from the circle, leaving the rest of the iron work still attached. Adhere both frames to the main frame, one each at the top and bottom, slipping the cut swirl over the top of the other frames when attaching. See the photo. Add Double Dots to the back of the completed frame. Adhere the frame to the card front. To tidy the frame joins, adhere a little ribbon to the side of the frame between the black swirls. Attach the card front to the card base with Double Dots.
Now to make the flower clusters: Make two 1/2" width bows from the seam binding ribbon. From the paper collection, cut a few strips 30 cm x 2 mm to make the paper screw swirls. With the quelling tool, quell the paper. Pull the ends to make the screw swirls. Cut to the desired length. Stamp and die cut the leaves using the HCPC-3646 Fluffy Birdies stamp set and matching HCD 1-756 Birds and Blooms die set. Make the flowers by using the HCPC-3651 stamp set and HPD-1-179 Botanical Wings die set. Stamp with the white embossing powder on the yellow card stock. Use the Broken China and Forest Moss inks to color the petals both sides. The embossing powder becomes a resist when coloring the petals. Ball and shape the petals using the HCST1-401 Deluxe Flower Shaping Kit. To aid with the flower shaping use water mist. When dry, the paper will become hard. Adhere a pearl to the center of the flower. This will show a little when the flowers are made and will help to keep the balled shape. Arrange and adhere with wet glue all you have made to form a cluster on each side of the card. Cut the stamens to size then glue together at the cut end, forming a cluster. Tuck the stamen clusters under each end of the arrangement, see photo. When all the glue is dry, add a little stickles for the finishing touch.

Fold each circle in half and then glue together to make the dimension globe, gluing the ball down to the one solid die cut that you did not cut out the circle. Attach the globe to the card as shown with foam tape. Next stamp one set of sunflowers on yellow card stock and cut out with matching die. Distress ink with vintage photo all the petals and then using the flower tool set give a slight bend to each of the petals of the flowers. Cut 4 3/4" x 3 1/2" Very Vanilla card panel and randomly stamp the newsprint stamp from the Everyday Hero Newsprint Cling Stamp Set all over the panel in Chocolate Chip and Ruby Red ink. Sponge the edges with Walnut Stain ink and layer the panel over the red panel. From the tag page of the paper collection, find the square postage stamp image of the combat boots and cut it out. Sponge the edges with Walnut Stain ink and layer it onto a slightly larger square of Ruby Red cardstock. Set aside. Find the oval tag in the collection that says “Courage”, cut it out, sponge the edges with Walnut Stain ink and set aside. Find the white and blue lined tag and cut it out. Ink up just the words “You are My Hero” found at the bottom of the “My Hero Cling Stamp Set” background stamp with the Night of Navy Marker. Stamp the inked words onto the tag towards the top of the tag. Sponge the edges of the tag with Walnut Stain ink and sponge the word “my” with a little bit of Ruby Red ink. Attach a back grommet to the tag and string burlap twine through the grommet. Adhere the tag to the card base on an angle with foam dimensional adhesive squares. From the stamped newsprint scrap, die cut a circle using a 2 1/8" circle die and sponge the edges. Stamp the round “Everyday Hero” stamp from the Everyday Hero Cling Stamp set in Chocolate Chip ink onto Ruby Red cardstock. Die cut the circle with the coordinating die. Add glue only around the perimeter of the red circle to adhere it to the vanilla circle, but do not glue down the center bar across the circle. Insert the arrow piece through the red circle allowing the highlighted words to be visible. Attach the assembled circle to the tag as show in the sample. Finish the card by adhering a metal star charm and scattering the red and white faux rhinestones around the card front.

Instructions: Create your card base using white card stock measuring 10" x 6 1/2". Locate the 6" x 6" card panel in the paper collection with the blue floral pattern and cut to fit card blank...the bottom portion will have to be married together to the top portion at the bottom using scor tape to cover the entire card front. Cut your craft metal sheet to 5 1/2" x 4" and emboss using a manual die cutting machine and the Retro Circles embossing folder. Next, cut the largest die cut using the Spellbinders Pearl Effect die using a light teal patterned paper from the Everyday Heroes paper collection. Ink the edges with a brown colored ink. Locate the small card panel in the paper collection featuring a blank oval, and cut to size to fit the teal colored die cut. Mask off the area around the oval and stamp the ship image onto the small card panel.
Moving along to die cutting the ornate shape from the Everyday Heroes die collection along with the circle cut. Using washi tape to hold down the ornate die, centre the Spellbinders circle die in the centre of the ornate die and apply washi tape to hold it down as well. Run through manual die cutting machine. Apply a brad to the top of the ornate die and one to the bottom. Locate the small globe image within the paper collection and die cut using the matching globe die in the die collection. Adhere ornate die cut over the stamped ship image. Then apply the stamped image piece to the Spellbinders Pearl Effect die cut, and lastly then adhere the metal sheet to the back of the layers. Now tie double bow and adhere to card. Using several 3D pop dots, add the focal point of the card to the background. Locate the globe image you die cut previously and adhere it to the card as shown using several 3D pop dots. Next, to achieve the spotted look on the images, remove the spray nozzle and hold it above the card. Gently tap the the nozzle in the air above the card until you have the look you wish to achieve. Proceed to repeat with second color. Set aside to dry.
Moving along to the flowers. Using black ink stamp your Arianna blooms image onto the metal craft sheet and then emboss using black embossing powder and a heat tool. Die cut using the coordinating flower die. Create one large double bloom as well as one mid sized single bloom and two single small blooms. Using the flower shaping tool, shape the flowers slightly. Glue centres into each of the flowers. Adhere the largest bloom to the top corner, and the three smaller blooms in a cluster on the bottom corner near the globe. Stamp several bunches of leaves from the Open Leaf cling stamp set onto household tin foil and once again emboss using the same technique as the flowers. Die cut using the coordinating leaf die...you will need to be very careful when removing the die cuts from the die as the tin foil will tear easily. Add leaves around each of the flowers and once happy with the arrangement adhere to card. Shape the leaves lightly using your finger. Apply the two metal vintage styled flowers behind the petals of the top flower...one on top and one below as shown. For the finishing touch take some thin black crafters wire and spiral it around a pencil, slide off and cut into desired lengths. Adhere to card around the large bloom. You now have a wonderful card that has incorporated some unique metals as well as a little household kitchen flair! Enjoy!
